‘Cabanga (Come on England)’
World Cup single harnesses science of positive
thinking; Chris Kamara doubtless worried…
sees the release of the infectious and ambitious England World Cup single ‘Cabanga (Come on England)’ by The England Band featuring Joe Public Utd – through Shine Records [Universal]. The aim is to provide the terraces with a perfect song to blast out to get behind the team in South Africa – the England Supporters Band will play it at all the England games – but also to tap into a new school of scientific thought based around positive thinking. This song could be the difference between lifting the World Cup and failure. The power of positive thinking could be crucial – especially if a penalty shoot out is involved, as we have lost on penalties in 5 major tournaments since 1990.
Football pundit Chris Kamara has pledged – live on TalkSport – to change his name to Chris Cabanga if the song’s ‘Think Cabanga’ Facebook page surpasses 30,000 fans! Cabanga fever is already catching the nation’s imagination, radio airplay is already confirmed, and from the 1st of June Cabanga car stickers will be exclusively distributed in 1,000 Texaco forecourts up and down the country.
‘Cabanga’ is a Zulu word meaning ‘Imagine’ and it has emerged from research from the Mindlab team at the Sussex Innovation Centre. Duncan Smith, MD of Mindlab, said: “Chanting fans have been proved to have a profound effect on performance. We wanted to identify the power of the ‘12th man’ to help England win the World Cup.” The word is not English and is therefore free of associations, and has 3 syllables which is seemingly ideal. Crucially, it is in an official language of the nation in which the team compete and embodies hopes and dreams. As Metro newspaper observed, “Boffins believe they have discovered the perfect football chant – a ditty so powerful it could even help England win the World Cup in South Africa this summer.”
The theory has already been put into practice once – the first real ‘road test’ of Cabanga took place at Chelsea’s 8-0 demolition of Wigan! The writer of the song met the Blues team post-match and posed for pictures with John Terry, Joe Cole and even Roman Abramovitch. Cabanga is backed by seasoned pros like Lee Dixon – “I have seen the effects of the word ‘Cabanga’ on performance, it is clear we can use it to help cheer our lads to victory”. ‘Cabanga (Come on England)’ will be performed at the ‘Official England Fans’ World Cup send-off party on 4 June 2010. The video for the song was filmed on a two day road trip with The England Supporters Band visiting an incredible 92 iconic English locations – from the Angel of the North to the London Eye.
The word is spreading and belief is growing. Together we can help England win the World Cup with the power of positive thinking – to find out more go to www.cabanga.co.uk
